The P³ Method™
Product • Process • People + Customers = Profit
The P³ Method™ helps business owners improve products, strengthen processes, develop people, attract customers, and build long-term profitable businesses.
Most businesses believe profit is the objective.
I don’t.
Profit is the result.
After nearly five decades of building, leading, and transforming businesses across industries—from Fortune 100 operations to startups, manufacturing, distribution, retail, service businesses, and consulting—I have found that profitable businesses consistently share three characteristics. I call them the P³ Method™.
1. Product
Everything begins with your product or service.
Businesses must continually evaluate whether their products still solve the customer’s problem and meet changing market demands. Markets evolve, competitors improve, and customer expectations change. A product that was exceptional yesterday may become average tomorrow.
Never stop improving your product.
2. Process
The process is the foundation of every successful business.
A well-designed process should contain clear expectations, measurable standards, accountability, and operational guardrails. The goal is not to create perfection—it is to create consistency.
My philosophy has always been simple:
Build processes strong enough that an average employee can consistently deliver acceptable performance, while exceptional employees have the opportunity to achieve exceptional results.
When a business depends on heroic employees to succeed, the business is fragile. When it depends on strong systems, the business becomes predictable.
3. People
People bring the process to life.
Hire carefully.
Train continuously.
Develop leaders.
Communicate expectations.
Recognize success.
Coach improvement.
Great people deserve great systems. Likewise, great systems allow good people to become even better.
People are not a substitute for process—they are the force that executes it.
Customers
When your Product, Process, and People work together, customers notice.
Customers return.
Customers refer others.
Customers become advocates for your business.
Growth becomes intentional rather than accidental.
Profit
Profit is not the starting point.
Profit is the scoreboard.
When you continually improve your Product, strengthen your Process, and develop your People, customer satisfaction increases—and profit becomes the natural outcome.
At EL Consulting, I don’t begin by asking, “How do we increase profits?”
I begin by asking:
“Which part of the system is preventing profits from occurring naturally?”
Because when you improve the system, the results follow.
